Expanded Meta Snapshot — Pokemon
Sealed product continues to dominate the high-end market, with XY Evolutions cases still sitting pretty at $18,700. We're seeing some weird swings in vintage singles this week, especially around Aquapolis cards that seem to be all over the place.
Top Staples
XY Evolutions Booster Box Case - $18,700 Still the king of sealed product investments. This set's nostalgia factor and low print run keep pushing prices higher every month.
Evolving Skies Booster Box Case - $14,847 The Eeveelution hype isn't slowing down anytime soon. This case price has been rock solid for months now, and for good reason.
Gym Challenge/Heroes Unlimited Boxes - $14K/$11K Classic WOTC sealed product that just keeps climbing. These unlimited boxes are becoming the "affordable" entry point into vintage sealed, which is saying something.
Shining Tyranitar - $4,250 The only single card cracking our top 20 list. Neo Destiny Shinings are always money, and this T-tar is no exception.
Team Up Booster Box - $10,481 Tag Team era boxes are getting stupid expensive. This set has some of the most playable cards from that time period.
Movers This Week
Big Winners: Kingdra from Aquapolis jumped 140% to $600, which honestly feels like someone just decided this card needed to cost more. The e-Card series has been getting more attention lately from collectors who missed out on Base Set prices.
Most other "gainers" this week are showing 0% changes, which probably means our data is catching up from last week or there just wasn't much movement in the smaller stuff.
Major Drops: Aquapolis cards got hammered this week. Nidoking fell 30% to $999, Lugia dropped 10% to $2,500, and even Tyranitar shed 32% down to $163. Something weird is happening with e-Card pricing - maybe a big collector dumped their collection?
Base Set Shadowless took some hits too. Poliwrath crashed 68% to $78 and Pidgeotto fell 75% to $23. This might be market correction after some recent pumps, or condition issues with specific listings.
The Base Set theme decks also got crushed - "Overgrowth" down 43% and "Zap!" down 23%. Sealed vintage product usually doesn't move this much, so this could be buying opportunities.
What to Watch
Keep an eye on Aquapolis singles next week - this much volatility usually means something bigger is happening behind the scenes. Also watch if those Base Set Shadowless prices bounce back or keep falling, because that'll tell us if this was just bad listings or a real correction.
